In this sector the analog systems are still in use, but for the newly installed systems hybrid or fully digital systems are used.
In case of hybrid systems PC based digitizing cards are used or for a more compact solution "target hardware" can be used.
Today the most used systems are "IP" systems which are fully digital.

Camera surveillance systems can be devided into two groups: analog and digital.
The analog systems are nowadays very rare and we only meet such systems at maintenence
therefore we put focus on these systems in our description.
The digital technology has spread due to the accessibility to PC's and because of the mass production now all this is affordable.

Digital system can be devided into the following subcategories:

  • PC based digitizing card systems
  • Target hardware and operation system using systems
  • NVR systems

Two different types of digitizing card systems are known, the hardware and the software compression types. The hardware comrepssion card is much more "server-friendly" as it deals with the compression and processor only saves the database, but on the other hand the software compression cards use the server's procession for compression, which means it can lead to overheating or functional problems at systems with many cameras in the system.
 

The hardwares are devices exactly planned and developed for such purpose and operate with their own operation system therefore it is much more realible. The only probem is that these devices can not be extended, which means the full device has to be changed to accuire a higher capacity. We recommand to use these where extension of the camera system is not planned.

The newest technology of camera systems are the IP based systems. In this case the captured pictures are already digitalized in the camera and sent it this format to the central server. With this technology signal conversion is not needed (analog-digital, digital-analog), which makes the system much more reliable. The central server stores the captured digital data and in addition it is displayed on the client monitors.
